Lead Artist (PGLA)
The Lead Artist will report to the Art Director
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading, coaching, and managing the art team.
- Organization, coordination, and tracking of artist tasks.
- Assessing and giving regular feedback on artist performance through regular one on ones.
- Supporting individual artists in attaining career goals.
- Collaborating with the Art Director to balance scope and vision.
- Setting and maintaining guidelines for an efficient art asset pipeline.
- Ensuring art assets meet technical and visual quality standards.
- Applying strong general 3d art and technical skills to help troubleshoot any issues that may arise in production.
- Modelling and texturing production art assets as needed.
- Participating in sprint planning sessions and retrospectives.
- Participating and possibly leading daily scrums.
- Training and orienting artists in new processes and technologies.
- Creating documents and tutorials.
- Helping to recruit and select the best possible new hires to balance team skill sets.
Position Specific Requirements:
- 5+ years production art experience creating assets for multiple consoles and platforms.
- 1+ years in a Lead Artist position on a AAA game preferred.
- Portfolio that shows strong and efficient modelling, texturing, and shading work.
- Extensive 3dsMax, Maya, and Photoshop experience.
- Programming or scripting experience is a big plus.
- Animation, rigging, and weighting experience is a big plus.
- Particle FX experience is a big plus.
- Previous experience with Agile methodologies is a big plus.
